Improve Your Memory

I have a lot of clients who ask me how to improve their memory. This is especially important as we age because we normally lose memory in our older years. Sometimes this memory loss is not normal and many people are diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment and even Dementia.

One of the best ways to work on memory is to actively engage the area of your brain that houses your memory center, the Hippocampus.

You can learn a new language, learn new skills or even play wonderful games that are geared toward memory enhancement.

I recently visited a store here in Newport called Marbles: The Brain Store. They have many games and toys that have been designed to enhance different areas of the brain.

Some of the games that I liked were the “Art Dealer Game”, “The Name Chase” and a game called “Mindstein”. The art dealer game works your visual attention and working memory as you have to work on spotting forgeries and buying masterpieces at art auctions! How fun is that? The Name Chase has you guessing about historical figures by giving you clues and facts. It really works your Hippocampus. And how can you go wrong with a game called Mindstein?! This game works your vocabulary, word processing skills and of course, your Hippocampus.

Enjoy!
